Message from the AuthorHello! Thank you for taking the time to view my website. My name is Jessa and I am a Senior at Saint Leo University studying Elementary Education. I am in the Honors Program and my Honors Research Project is on Service-Learning. I made this website to share all of my findings. The goal of this
project is to enable teachers to understand the importance of integrating

Author’s Reflection
Kaye and Connolly state, “Service-learning is already deemed a valuable educational approach in schools across the globe” (Kaye & Connolly, With common Core State Standards, Why Service Learning Matters Even More, 2013). As educators learn the effectiveness of service-learning, they will need to determine how they can implement meaningful projects into their classes. This is where my goal of my project comes into play. Through extensive research and development of my own ideas about it. I have decided to put together a website for teachers to use to find resources and information about service-learning. This website will serve as a guide for educators to realize there is not extensive and additional work needed to successfully integrate service-learning into their curriculum. Ultimately, service-learning matters because, By discovering and applying their interests and talents along academic content, skills, and knowledge, students bring the Common Core State Standards to life. Service establishes a purpose for learning. Students and the exceptional educators who engage them prove to be valued contributors for our collective well-being, now and in the future (Kaye & Connolly, With common Core State Standards, Why Service Learning Matters Even More, 2013). |
